Can preschoolers distinguish between truth and falsity to discern reality?

An Oscar-nominated Dutch film (The Hunt) proposes that modern Kindergarteners have lost the ability to distinguish between a lie and a fact. A kindergarten teacher falsely accused of sexual abuse cannot be cleared because his accuser's attempt to confess the lie is confounded by the psychological proposal that her "knowledge" of the lie is actually an attempt to suppress actual abuse. The meaning of the lie-event is no longer tied to an objective or factual referent, but has become defined subjectively making multiple alternative "realities" possible. This is the linguistic deconstruction of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein applied to the teaching environment. It undermines the child's capacity to discern truth and makes actual learning impossible.

"Lawrence Dawson's book, "The Death of Reality" exposes the Wittgensteinian linguistic deconstruction and its impact upon our capacity to appreciate reality."
